Desiree at 13,000gns tops Bringlee production sale
ON the same day as the society sale Graham Brindley also held a second production sale from his Bringlee herd, Market Drayton, Shropshire, with a guest consignment from Boomer Birch, Weston, Stafford.
The leading price of 13,000gns was achieved for a black and white heifer, Bringlee Desiree. This December 2008-born heifer is out of Bringlee Sandy and by the Belgian sire Sjaka Zoeloe Van Zwaanhof. Making the final bid were Ceirian and Anna Jones, Lampeter, Ceredigion, for their Rhiwonnen herd.
Her full ET sister, Bringlee Dorinda, was next in line at 9,000gns and sold to W.R. and W.W. Jones, Oswestry, Shropshire, to join their Tanat herd.
Bringlee Estelle sold for 8,500gns to Trevor Ashmore, Co Wexford. Again out of the Sandy cow, but sired by Graphite De Dessous La Ville, she had already has a successful show career.
At 6,500gns C.P. Barwood, Fleggburgh, Great Yarmouth, bought Bringlee Electra. This 14-month-old black heifer is out of the imported cow Cerise 2120 Neuve Cour and sired by Bringlee Blackstar, a bull previously sold to BBG in Belgium.
Next in line was Bringlee Eesandy, another Sandy daughter but sired by Gamin Des 3 Frontieres. This May 2009-born heifer sold to A.G. Teasdale, Melmerby, Penrith for 6,200gns.
Another May-born Graphite De Dessous La Ville and Bringlee Sandy daughter, Bringlee Evadine, sold to at 5,000gns to Kevin Watret for his Solway View herd, Annan, Dumfriesshire, and Andy Ryder for his Andy’s herd, Moffat, Dumfriesshire.
Also at 5,000gns was the May 2009-born Bringlee Eleanor, sold suckling her recipient dam. This Bringlee Blackstar daughter out of Directive ET De Fooz, Eleanor sold to H. Cockburn and Partners, West Linton, Peebleshire.
Topping Boomer Birch’s guest consignment was the September 2008-born Boomer Destiny at 6,200gns. A Bringlee Waldo daughter, out of Gregmaur Abba, it sold to J.C. Innes and Sons, Huntly, Aberdeen.
Making 2,800gns was a October 2008-born Empire D’Ochain daughter, Boomer Desire. Out of Cowden Bounty it sold to T.C. Altham, Kirkby Lonsdale.
Averages: Bringlee herd - 15 bulling and yearling heifers, £4,753; 2 cows, £2,047.50; 5 ET calves suckling recipient dams, £3,528; 6 recipients carrying embryos, £2,187,50. Boomer herd - 4 bulling and yearling heifers, £3,491.25.
