Bishops Blue Texel dispersal tops 2,000gns
THE Bishops Blue Texel dispersal at Worcester market for Andrew Bishop, Gloucestershire, saw prices rising to 2,000gns for a three-year-old home-bred ewe.
This ewe had previously won numerous prizes including female champion at the Royal Show and Three Counties Show last year. It was knocked down J. Lyle junior, Leven, Fife.
Mr Lyle closely followed the breeding and bought her daughter, a yearling ewe that had won female and reserve breed champion at the Three Counties show this year at 1,750gns.
Hayley Clarke, Hevingham, Norwich, bought seven including a ewe lamb, out of the top priced sheep, at 1,100gns and another ewe lamb having at 1,000gns.
Rams sold to 1,200gns for a February-born twin ram lamb at 1,200gns selling to D. Jones, Pencader, Carmarthen.
Another February-born twin lamb reached 820gns to A. and S. Andrews, Miserden, Stroud, Gloucester.
Top priced shearling ram was 900gns selling to P.J. Jones, Crickadarn, Builth Wells.
Averages: 11 flock ewes, £947.86; 9 yearling ewes, £861; 13 ewe lambs, £586.38; 9 breeding rams, £498.17; 10 ram lambs, £458.85.
