Beeston sees ‘cautious’ trade for Holstein Club

TRADE was more ‘cautious’ at this month’s Western Holstein Club’s monthly show and sale at Beeston last week.

However, good quality well grown, milky heifers sold on a very good trade and top price was 3,100gns, paid for a Picston Shottle daughter, Ichthus Shottle Spottie, from first-time Derbyshire exhibitors P.J. White and J. Hill, Chesterfield, Derbyshire.

This heifer wasn’t shown in the pre-sale show but sold, giving 30kg, to Bixley Farms, Norwich.

Rob Bell, of Knutsford, Cheshire, purchased the next two top-priced animals; Peelane Orville Christy from Jim Barber, Congleton, Cheshire, at 2,750gns and Budworth Lheros Gloria 2 from Ivan and Judy Shepherd, Northwich, Cheshire, at 2,600gns.

Heifer breaks 2,500gns barrier

The only other heifer to break the 2,500gns barrier was Fennshall Roberto Ethel from Neil Jones, Whitchurch. This Stardale Roberto sired heifer made 2,520gns going to D. and H.E. Colclough and Son, Hassall, Sandbach.

Cows sold to 2,300gns for the champion female, third calver Rowarton Stormatic Anna, from the Sutton family, Congleton, selling to J. and N. Hull and Sons, for their Fortland herd, Preston.

Bulls sold to 1,650gns for Aintree Roger Red, from Aintree Holsteins, Wrexham.
