2,600gns top for dairy stock at Lancaster
AN entry of 47 dairy cows and heifers were forward at Lancaster Auction Mart’s August show and sale and prices peaked at 2,600gns.
Leading the trade was Magic Decker Lira 2, bred from seven generations of EX cows and consigned by R. Parker, West Lea. It sold to C. Dent, Bridgend, Penrith.
The championship was awarded to W.W. and D. Boow, Millom, Cumbria, for a heifer Dunnerdale Lou Dawn, which was sold giving 35kg. It sold for 2,000gns to the show judge - B. Lawrence for the Lynholme herd.
Averages: 6 cows, £1,450; 41 heifers, £1,710.
