Twelve Triple-Doe’s compete at Southwell Show and Ploughing match
A DOZEN Triple-Doe machines were competing in Nottinghamshire’s Southwell Show and Ploughing Match, held at Hall Farm, Linby, home of James and Angela Hardstaff, the first time so many such machines had been together in the same field.
“Absolutely fantastic,” said judge, former Ernest Doe service engineer and demonstrator, Derrick Hockley, who worked for the company from 1943 until 1992.
The best ploughing in any class was completed by Retford’s Don Woodhouse, winner of the world conventional class.
The ground was hard and several ploughmen finished early, but not Penistone’s John Milnes, who carved yet another set of neat furrows to take the vintage trailed class with Lincolnshire’s Mick Osborne in second spot.
In the vintage mounted it was Grantham’s Simon Durant who took the honours while Dave Greenwood scooped top spot in the Classic class.
Emma Davenport continued to get in the prizes, taking second place and winning ‘Best Rig’ in the Intermediate Vintage class, keeping older brother Nick on his toes.
