Royal Welsh attendance tops 230,000

THE Royal Welsh Show has ended with yet another four-day attendance figure topping the magical 200,000 barrier.

By close of play on Thursday, July 22 more than 230,870 people had passed through the Llanelwedd turnstiles - the fourth highest figure in the 47 years since the society set down permanent roots in Builth Wells.

Monday’s total was 52,738, Tuesday’s gate. despite day-long torrential downpours, was 55,904 and Wednesday, boosted by the World Sheep Shearing Championships, saw the highest ever daily figures at 70,613.

A further 51,000 plus people were on the ground today, though not enough to reach the 240,140 record set in 2006.
