Red tape review reaps benefits
SCOTTISH farmers are spending less time on red tape after the Government cut the number of on-farm inspections, according to figures published in the SEARS (Scotland’s Environmental and Rural Services) annual review.
The review, published at the Royal Highland Show, highlighted that almost 5,000 fewer inspections have stemmed from the drive to cut bureaucracy in the organisation.
Environment Minister Roseanna Cunningham said: “The first SEARS annual review, published at last year’s Show demonstrated how far the nine partner organisations had come in working closely together.
“A year later, a richer understanding is emerging of the benefits brought about by the SEARS changes.
“Further reductions have been made on inspections, resulting in more time saved for customers and there has been excellent progress on biosecurity, co-locations, and reducing bureaucracy.”
