Service award for Bpex man's 'massive' achievement
THE winner of this year’s pig industry service award, judged annually by the National Pig Association and this year presented by the BBC’s Adam Henson, went to Nigel Penlington, Bpex’s environmental programme manager.
Yorkshire pig producer Richard Longthorp, one of this year’s judges, said Mr Penlington’s impact on, and benefit to the industry had been ‘massive’.
“His ability to critically analyse Environment Agency techno-speak and challenge questionable science and Britain’s interpretation of European Union law, then present the facts in a fashion we can all understand, is now legend.
“It is fair to say without his intervention in the IPPC debacle, there would be many whose investment plans would have been thwarted by impenetrable red tape.”
