Royal Welsh Show preview: Rural champion candidates

THREE farmers who make an incredible contribution to their local communities have been shortlisted for the new NFU Cymru-NatWest Welsh Rural Community Champion Award, with the winner being announced on the last day of the Royal Welsh.

The competition recognises the hard work farmers do off the farm in order to help their local town or village community. The winner will receive the top prize of £500 and two runners-up will get £100 each.

The finalists come from Meirionnydd, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.

They are: Hedd Pugh, of Blaencywarch Farm, Dinas Mawddwy, Machynlleth; Huw Rees, Danyrallt Farm, Llandovery, Carmarthenshire; Yvonne Evans, Lower Mullock Farm, Marloes, Pembrokeshire.
