BMW launches compact X1
BMW’s compact sports activity model, the X1, went on sale last week with an all-diesel line-up and the choice of two- or four-wheel drive transmission systems.
The firm is said to have taken X5 styling and practicality, and shrunk it into a more affordable package.
As a result, they all get two-litre diesel power, but in three states of tune - 143hp, 177hp and the twin-turbo 204hp flagship.
There’s a choice of rear-wheel drive (sDrive) and four-wheel drive (xDrive) on the two lower powered models, with the twin turbo model only available in four-wheel drive.
Prices range from £22,660 to £29,055.
