Jimmy Doherty marries farm sweetheart
BRITIAN’S favourite celebrity farmer Jimmy Doherty married his long term girlfriend on Saturday (August 22).
Jimmy, 33, met Michaela Furney, 31, when filming the hit BBC TWO show Jimmy’s Farm which tracked Jimmy as he built up a rare-breed pig farm and farm shop near Ipswich in Suffolk.
The newly-weds travelled from the church to the reception at Jimmy’s Farm in a pink tractor given by Jimmy to Michaela.
Jimmy said: “It was a very special day, and to have it on the farm which Michaela and I hold so dear to our hearts was the ultimate celebration to share with our friends and family.”
The couple are now busy putting final preparations in place for a food and music festival featuring top chefs James Martin and James Wong and leading musicians such as KT Tunstall and José González.
The festival, Harvest at Jimmy’s, will take place at Jimmy’s Farm on September 12 and 13.

Congratulations and I hope you will be very happy for years to come and that the toil won't be too hard. You have a wonderful lifestyle so enjoy it to the full. I am a mobile farm secretary so understand the implications of living and making a living on the farm. I wish you both all the best.

Congratulations and all the very best wishes to a very brave couple. We in the industry and many in the living in the country do appreciate the struggles of surviving. For you both to do it on camera must have been very tough at times. Really admire the programme and the insight it gave to all viewers of the trials and tribulations trying to feed the Nation. Well done to you both and your team.

Congratulations to you both. Jimmy's programmes, both on his farm and where he visited other farmers around Britain did more to explain to the general public how farming works and the difficulties than any amount of moaning by the NFU. I wish you both long and happy life together and I'm pleased to say that here are two people who can without doubt call themselves farmers for all the right reasons. Well done and keep the programmes coming

What a breath of fresh air Jimmy's programmes were. Watched him from day one and for religious reasons I don't even eat pig! But I just loved the programme. And his latest Jimmy's Food Factory was inspired tv! Well done and congratulations to him and Michaela. Can't wait for another series.

Just wanted to congratulate Jimmy of the Global Harvest series. I spent 7 years in Tanzania trying to increase maize yields, and he explains the problems and solutions so clearly that he is doing the world a great service.
