New OSR and pulse marketing agreement

OILSEED rape and pulse varieties from LS Plant Breeding will be brought to the market by John Ebbage Seeds under a new marketing agreement announced by the two companies.

The agreement covers new oilseed rape and pulse varieties from LSPB that will be coming to the market this year and in the future.

“We have already had significant success in the UK with our oilseed rape and pulse varieties being marketed by other breeders,” said Theo Labuda, managing director of LSPB.

“We are now ready to market our new varieties directly, so it is important that we have the logistics firmly in place to fulfil expectations - and that is why we have made an agreement with Ebbage Seeds to undertake the sales, marketing, multiplication and delivery of our varieties into the market.”

The initial agreement covers three winter oilseed rape varieties from LSPB in Recommended List trials for 2010 harvest - Sesame, Cracker and Palace. Sesame is the top-yielding conventional variety on current form, Cracker is a club root-resistant hybrid variety with high light leaf spot resistance, and Palace has been the top-yielding variety in National List trials.

The agreement also includes the LSPB varieties on the 2010 PGRO Pulse Recommended Lists. White pea Gregor has progressed from P1 to P2 recommendation, the large blue pea, Bluestar, has been added with a provisional (P1) recommendation, and the pale hilum spring bean, Fury, has been added to the list with a provisional (P1) recommendation.
