National Marmalade Week 2012

Celebrate National Marmalade Week, until March 3, with a jar of Paddington Bear’s favourite treat.

The event is the first of its kind and has been designed to encourage people to celebrate a fine and truly British preserve.

Although you may have missed the 7th annual World’s Original Marmalade Awards and Festival this week, there is still a chance to join the fun and organise a marmalade themed activity in your local area.

Event organiser Jane Hasell-McCosh spoke of her delight at the resurrection of this British delicacy.

“Marmalade is one of our national treasures. There’s been a huge resurgence in people making their own marmalade at home which is fantastic news, as well as artisan producers selling preserves, and consumers buying really good quality marmalade.”

However, if you’re too busy to join in with the festivities, spread your favourite marmalade on toast this weekend and enjoy the fruity flavours of British produce.
