Middle Emerald Mr wins Ayrshire class
A PURCHASE from a reduction sale in 2008 proved money well spent when Middle Emerald Mr won the Ayrshire championship for David and Christine Sanderson of Wigton, Cumbria.
Bred by the Whiteford family of Carlisle, Mr and Mrs Sanderson bought Emerald Mr at the 2008 Middle reduction sale for 5,200gns to join their 150-strong herd.
Classified VG88, this Middle Mizzy Ranger daughter calved her third in December and was shown giving 44kg.
In reserve was a home-bred second-calver, Rhos Frumpy, from Philip Reed of Cardigan, which calved in December.
Giving 42kg a day, this cow is no stranger to show ring success, having taken the champion heifer rosette at the Royal Welsh and the champion of champions at Llandyfaelog show.
