Locking in carbon

FARMERS can help the fight against climate change by managing the land to keep carbon in, Defra Secretary Hilary Benn told the conference on Wednesday.

Speaking on the main stage, he pledged there would be no holding back in the fight against climate change, despite the tough economic times the country faces.

“Now – and in the years ahead – it won’t be a choice between either fighting climate change or building a strong economy. A low carbon Britain will be the strong economy of the future,” he said.
