    Just 13 catalogued entries from four exhibitors in the dairy cattle classes – and not all of them turned up – led to a wake-up call to all show societies from Holstein judge Mark Nutsford, who had travelled from Cheshire only to find that all he had to place were two cows and a handful of heifers.

The group one scrapie genotyped Penparc Kingpin was sired by Alwent Juniper and out of Mr Smith’s best home-bred ewe in the 150-ewe Penparc Texel flock, which is run alongside a commercial flock of 1,200 Texel crosses and Mules.
