THE champion pen of store lambs at Skipton Mart, sold for £43.50/ head. The trophy went to Michael Parker, Winterburn, Skipton, with a 40-strong pen of Suffolk-cross lambs, sold to Messrs Lea and Son, Barnsley. IN our report from the Broom’s Barn Research Centre Open Day (FG July 4), we stated that, potentially, an application of Biscaya (thiacloprid) to oilseed rape in the autumn will help protect the crop against turnip yellows virus. Dr Mark Stevens of Broom’s Barn points out that it is, in fact, neonicotinoid seed treatments that potentially could protect the crop from the virus.We apologise for any confusion caused.
