First lamb of year at Walford and North Shropshire College
THE first 2012 lamb at Walford and North Shropshire College was born last week, marking a busy year ahead for students.
Peter Paul, Walford’s new shepherd, has brought forward the first round of lambing to take advantage of favourable market prices for early spring lambs.
Along with 170 lambs due this month, there are 43 cows due to calve. It is hoped milk sales from the farm will rise over the next few months.

BETTER late than never is a phrase which seems oddly appropriate when applied to British farming at the moment.
