Snow prompts young entrants support extension
THE severe weather conditions across Wales have led to this year’s application window for the Welsh Assembly’s Young Entrants Support Scheme being extended until March 31.
The decision has been taken due to the increased workloads currently being experienced in the farming industry and the need to re-arrange a number of public events promoting the scheme which were due to be held during January.
The YESS scheme is a new initiative providing assistance to help farmers under 40 who possess adequate skills and competence and setting-up as head of the holding for the first time.
Application forms and details of the scheme, as well as details about how to register as a mentor, are available on the Welsh Assembly Government website at www.wales.gov.uk/farming
Alternatively contact the Sustainable Farming Branch, Welsh Assembly Government, Rhodfa Padarn, Llanbadarn Fawr, Aberystwyth, Ceredigion SY23 3UR or by telephone on 0300 062 2166.
