Top call of 3,250gns at Bala dog sale
THERE was a top price of 3,250gns at the sale of working sheepdogs and young dogs at the Price family’s Rhiwlas Estate, Bala, on May 15, organised by the Bala Sheepdog Trials Committee.
A large crowd watched a quality show of working dogs, with the top price going for a local two-year-old bitch, sired by Aled Owen’s Roy, and paid by Daykin Farming, Southam, Warwickshire.
Shortly afterwards, a bitch by the same sire from W. Gallagher, of Co Donegal, Ireland, sold for 3,050gns to W. Davies, Plas Isa, Marli, Abergele.
More than 25 per cent of the dogs entered realised over 2,000gns, and just over half realised 1,000gns or over.
AVERAGES
Working dogs from 250gns to 3,250gns – average £1,677; Young dogs from 300gns to 420gns – average £378. Overall average – £1,568.
