What’s coming up this month.
12 OPEN FARM SUNDAY, NATIONWIDE
This annual event just keeps getting bigger and better, with more than 400 farmers opening their gates and hosting a range of activities. Designed to reconnect consumers with the countryside and where their food comes from, each event has a point of difference, depending on the farm. Activities include farm walks, tractor and trailer rides, BBQs, demonstrations and lots of on- farm games.
15-19 BBC GARDENERS’ WORLD live, NEC BIRMINGHAM
Gardening experts Monty Don and Alan Titchmarsh are on hand to bring the TV show to life. Fabulous flowers, gardening question time, RHS Floral Marquee and the beautifully-presented show gardens make for a busy event. There are a wealth of resources and handy tips to create your perfect garden. The English Tea Garden is on hand for a sit down and sandwich.
15-19 BBC GOOD FOOD SHOW, NEC BIRMINGHAM
If you are looking for some inspiration, then book yourself a seat and learn from one of many celebrity chefs gracing one of the biggest food shows this summer. From the Masterchef classes to Summer Kitchen and Saturday Kitchen Live, seasonal food will be showcased by the very best in the industry, whether you are cooking on a budget, splashing out or going back to basics. Visitors are spoilt for choice.
24-25 WOOLFEST, COCKERMOUTH
Designed to celebrate all that is good about wool, this two-day event, held at Mitchells Livestock Mart, features a wide variety of workshops showcasing techniques, skills and produce. Whether you are a novice or a professional, the event welcomes around 140 stallholders and includes an impressive display of rare breed animals in the main ring.
25 - JULY 3 PEMBROKESHIRE FISH WEEK
Around 250 events are held to celebrate the Welsh coastline, seafood, beaches and maritime heritage. Think beach walks, boat trips, forage walks, seashore safaris, cookery classes, coarse fishing championships, water sport activities, beach-inspired art and, of course, the chance to taste the best of seafood in restaurants across the county.
