Welsh Assembly to host food strategy roadshow
THE Welsh Assembly Government’s on-going consultation seeking views for a brand new food strategy for Wales is being complemented by a series of regional events being staged throughout Wales during September.
The draft strategy sets out a wide ranging vision of the place of food in Wales, with a view to develop a clear direction for the Welsh food industry to grow in a sustainable and profitable manner over the next 10 years.
“Our new overarching strategy will set a long-term, ambitious, and proactive agenda to address the challenges ahead for food and farming,” says
Rural Affairs Minister, Elin Jones.
“It will include cross-cutting strategic issues such as health, food security, sustainability and rural development.
“I hope the public will engage with us on this consultation to make sure the final strategy is one that represents the best possible way forward.”
Anyone wishing to attend a regional event, which are being held at venues in mid, south east, south west and north Wales, should email: foodpolicy@wales.gsi.gov.uk or phone 0300 062 2384 or 0300 062 2216.
