Savile Row to be transformed into green pasture
A FLOCK of sheep will descend on London’s Savile Row next month to raise awareness about Prince Charles’ Campaign For Wool.
London’s most prestigious tailoring location will transformed into a field on Monday, October 11 and the public will be invited into the tailoring houses to learn more about the benefits of wool.
‘Savile Row Field Day’ – organised by the Savile Row Bespoke Association (SRB), Woolmark International, West Country woollen mill Fox Brothers and Dormeuil - will see two farmers care for the sheep as they graze on the specially laid pasture.
Douglas Cordeaux, managing director of Fox Brothers, said: “We have a collective responsibility to champion this versatile, sustainable and natural fibre, the production of which involves far lower carbon emissions than man-made alternatives.
“We need to support farmers who are the custodians of our rural landscape and truly value the qualities of this wonderful resource, which is used to weave the finest luxury cloth you can buy.”
The Campaign for Wool is an industry coalition, brought together by HRH The Prince of Wales, aims to increase demand for wool, which has seen a decline in recent years.
