More goods being bought online by rural residents

BROADBAND may be a sore point for rural communities, but it appears not to have stopped residents buying goods online.

More than 40 per cent of adults living in the countryside have increased their amount of online shopping in comparison to last year, according to a survey by online payment service PayPal.

This has been attributed various factors, including living in remote locations and a lack of product diversity available.

The survey also reports over a third of 50-69-year-old rural shoppers have increased their online shopping habits.
