Farm roadshow a hit with London school children
YOUNGSTERS from a Central London school had a taste of British farming today (Wednesday, June 16) when the NFU’s newly re-launched roadshow paid them a visit.
The roadshow, which first launched in 1999, travels the country telling the story of how food moves from the farm to the dinner table and how farmers are meeting environmental challenges while providing great tasting food.
Children from Gateway Primary School, in Westminster were especially enamoured with Annabelle, the model dairy cow which can be milked.
NFU President Peter Kendall said: “It’s not often you see farming in Central London so it is great to see youngsters being given the chance to see exactly how produce makes its way from the farm to the dinner plate.
“The roadshow, and its presenter Johnny Ball, has always been a big hit with youngsters and this gives us a good opportunity to promote British farming in the city.”
The popular roadshow has already been booked at 120 venues across England and Wales this year. For details on booking the roadshow click here.
