CLA Game Fair: Return to Blenheim Palace in 2011
THE 2011 CLA Game Fair will return to Blenheim Place despite the traffic nightmare it caused the previous year it was there.
Thousands of visitors were left frustrated and gridlocked in their cars for hours as the surrounding roads struggled to cope with the 151,000 people that entered Blenheim’s gates over the course of three days.
Despite criticism, the shows organisers insisted they had done everything they could ahead of the event and said the jams were a result of rush-hour traffic and accidents.
However, following the announcement the event will return to Oxfordshire, the CLA confirmed ‘lessons had been learnt’ and were working with the county council, police and Safety Advisory Group for the West Midlands to produce an effective and ‘robust traffic management plan’ in a bid to prevent a repeat of the roadside chaos.
A number of measures have already been put into place including additional car parking spaces for a further 5,000 vehicles, four new access points and a newly appointed traffic committee to determine the opinions of local people.
Possible other changes might include an alternative route into the event although a park and ride has been ruled out so far.
The 2011 CLA Game Fair will take place from July 22-24.

There is a well known saying, 'no pain, no gain' and that will be ringing true in the minds of Milk Link’s 1,600 producers, who are on the brink of reaping just reward for 12 years of loyalty and investment.

Would the CLA committee consider making a greater entrance concession for senior citizens. £1 reduction is very small and £3 to £4 would be very much appreciated for low income folk like myself. 2010 Fair was just excellent at Ragley Hall and entry and exit was quick and painless - best ever. Thank you

In future there has to be a better system in place for letting exhibitors with vehicles onto the site after the show has finished,in order to remove their stand etc.
we had to wait for all traffic to come out before we could get in and then there was no proper marshalling it was a free for all and caused a lot of bad tempers. In future why don't the organisers let 20 vehicles out and 20 in and so on, or would that be to easy.

Totally agree with last point Re:: Exhibitors entering after the show. We had to wait for over 2 hours and each time we asked the car park controllers we were given a different story. Total chaos and a LOT of bad tempers and frustration which spoilt a thoruglhy enjoyable weekend. There are enough exits and entracnes to allow at least one entry lane surely???

2010 Game Fair at Rageley was great - easy access. I agree that a £1 concessions for OAPs is a little in the mean side - can we except a greater reduction next year?

I totally disagree about ease of access to and from the site a nightmare; and agree that vehicle access to the site after 7.30pm on Friday was a farce.
On Friday morning it took over two hours to travel a distance of about 15 miles down the A46 from the M40 - poor traffic controls at key round-a-bouts and junctions, and poor signage. On Friday evening there was an accident at entrance C; access to the show ground locked down after 7.30am for nearly two hours; poor exit signage from the ground to major roads.
Great show spoilt by poor traffic management.

As always attending the Cla game fair which myself and a group of friends have done since we where about 10years old and have travelled and camped on at least 95% of the last Cla gamefairs in the last twenty years it was a nice suprise to see a coach layed on to the local village I look forward to a return to Blenhiem and the lovely village of Woodstock but hope that they put the campsite back where it used to be right by the main entrance not where it was last time miles away !!!!

Having made many visits to the Game fair at various venues, usually on the first day, I found that Ragley hall offered the best access ever, we were parked and seeking breakfast by 08.30hrs having left surrey at 06.00hrs. I dread a return to Blenheim, maybe a helicopter will be the order of the day.
A great 2010 Game Fair top marks

I throught that the setting, Ragley Hall, was lovely. The only complaint I would make that as a partially disabled person there wasn't enough places to sit especially regarding eating. Third visit to the CLA and it won't be the last.
