Bangers come to Help for Heroes aid
SALES of charity sausages have helped raise £10,000 for Help for Heroes.
The bangers – made by Aldershot-based A. Turner & Sons and flavoured with real ale – have been on sale in 20 Tesco stores in the south of England and talks are underway to expand sales to 450 stores.
Money for the charity has also come from a series of ongoing Bpex-sponsored ‘Bangers and Cash’ events where A Turner & Sons donated sausages to military bases who then held their own bangers and mash events.
“At the Sandhurst store alone we made £1,400 for Help for Heroes from selling hot dogs and also sold 1,800 packs of sausages,” said Paul Turner.
The two flavours made with real ale are called Hair of the Hog and Pickled Pig, but are due to be replaced with a single traditional pork sausage next year. Mr Turner says he was trialling recipes for the replacement in search for ‘perfect sausage.’
