Highland Show carves place in the record books
SCOTLAND’S major showcase of all that’s best in farming, food and the countryside is celebrating its most successful year yet.
Bumper crowds flocked to the Royal Highland Show as box- office records were smashed on three out of the four days of the agricultural showpiece at Ingliston, near Edinburgh Airport.

Sheep set on fire at Sussex farm
Police have appealed for information after a sheep was deliberately set on fire on a Sussex farm.
The burned body of the animal was found by a worker at Gote Farm near Ringmer at 0900 BST on Wednesday.

Sheep decline ‘raises tick risk’ warns NFUS
A decline in the sheep industry has led to an increase in harmful ticks, the National Farmers’ Union of Scotland (NFUS) has warned.
Lyme disease, an infection that can cause arthritis if untreated, can be transmitted to humans through a tick bite.

Drivers quizzed over farm attack
Police have quizzed drivers using an Aberdeenshire road near the spot where a farmer was found seriously injured last week.
Family members found Sandy Ingram lying face down and unconscious after he went looking for two prowlers seen in the grounds of his country home a week ago on Saturday.

Flintshire farmer’s plea for action over sewage floods
A farmer plagued by floods containing raw sewage is pleading for action.
Martin Hughes has been forced to leave a field empty after a series of floods from Black Brook onto his farm located on Pool Lane, between Buckley and Padeswood.

Farmers ready to shoot to kill
A farmer has warned dog owners that they face the prospect of their dogs being shot if they continue to allow them to roam free in fields containing his livestock.
Adrian Bell, who is also a member of Chedworth Parish Council, said the drastic measure would only ever be taken as a last resort.
