Burgers warning on cloned cows
THE farmer at the centre of a cloned cow scandal last night warned the animal’s offspring could end up being sold in Scotland - as BURGERS.
Callum Innes, of Nairn, Inverness-shire, said he could flog his 96 calves to a Dutch food firm if forced to sell them.

Food inflation is a rumble which won’t go away
Is the era of cheap food coming to an end? With wheat prices jumping 20pc last week after the failure of the Russian harvest, fears of an imminent food shock have once again emerged.
Things aren’t as bad as they seem. The current steep jump in prices is likely to be temporary - but the long-term outlook looks very different.

Farmers abandon any ideas of going organic after grants disappear
The drive to convert land to organic farming has ground to a halt, figures released by the Department of Agriculture show.
Just 1 per cent of the province’s land is farmed organically. Since 2008 no funding has been available to help farmers through the lengthy two-year conversion process, when yields typically plummet.
Scottish farms may hold key to e.coli vaccine
The Highland farm at the centre of last week’s cloned beef row could lose part of its annual subsidy, it has been claimed.
It is understood the Scottish Government may penalise C. Innes and Sons, of Drumduan Farm, Auldearn, near Nairn, for failing to comply with rules governing the single farm payment scheme (SFPS).
