Welcome to Tillage 2010
A welcome to this year’s Tillage event from Roger Lane-Nott
Welcome to Tillage 2010 and whether you have come to Leverton Farms, Lincoln, or Burghill Farms, Brechin, may I extend a very warm welcome from the AEA and its members - whatever the weather.
The last two years have been particularly difficult - and we continue to strive to pull ourselves out of recession - but the farming community has always been resilient and eternally optimistic. This is a very good time to invest in machinery, and specifically the type of implements you see displayed here. The outlook for the arable farmer has improved, with yields not suffering as much as feared from the lack of rainfall and prices have improved markedly.
This year, for the first time, sprayers are featured at Tillage - a direct response to a request from exhibitors, and there will be more than 10 companies exhibiting. This will be a mix of static displays (in 10x10m plots) and the option to see machines on the move in the exclusive live area.
The great advantage of the AEA Tillage events is that they give farmers or contractors - some people may say ‘end users’ - the opportunity to match the right tillage machine to the task required, while taking into account location and soil. It is all about tailoring tillage and agronomics to meet your farming practices.
So whether you need to aggressively manage residue while conserving soil moisture, warm your soil up faster for earlier planting, or just pack a seedbed full of nutrients, you are likely to find a solution at AEA Tillage 2010.

By unlocking the export potential China offers the pig industry, not to mention the red meat sector as a whole, we could gain entry into a marketplace which comprises a fifth of the world’s population.
