Polaris to offer free EASI training
ATV manufacturer Polaris has announced that it is working with EASI, the European All-Terrain Vehicle Safety Institute, to offer free ATV training for Polaris customers. Also news comes of staff changes and a discount for NFU members when buying a Polaris machine.
EASI is a non-profit making organisation which was founded in 2002 to implement a European-wide programme of all-terrain vehicle safety education training and awareness. EASI is supported by the major ATV manufacturers and on average 28 courses are conducted every month, with 34 active Rider Course Instructors offering training throughout the UK.
An introductory ATV safety course covers safe riding techniques, safety clothing, protective personal equipment, pre-ride inspections, risk assessment and environmental issues. Riders wishing to learn how to reverse, tow and load their ATV can add QVC’s Generic Loading, Towing and Reversing (GLTR) module.
Polaris says that anyone considering buying or using an ATV should take the training course just in the same way as learning to safely drive a car or ride a motorcycle. EASI approved ATV operator training includes specialised modules for agriculture, and new developments will be a side-by-side machine training module.
Information on the courses can be obtained from Polaris and their dealers, or from EASI on 01903 816286 or at www.quadsafety.org
Changes at Polaris
Polaris has also announced a couple of changes to its staffing.
Ross Clifford has become general manager EMEA products for Europe, Middle East and Africa, having previously been general manager for Polaris Great Britain.
Phil Everett has been promoted to the position of country manager for Polaris Great Britain. In this new role he will be responsible for leading the UK team in the growing Polaris’ off and on-road business.
Phil joined Polaris in 2002 as a district sales manager and became national sales manager in 2006. Phil is also chairman of the AEA (Agricultural Engineers Association) ATV and side-by-side group.
Discounts for NFU members
Polaris and the NFU have also teamed up to offer both members and non-members a discount on new machines.
NFU members will receive a five per cent discount on Polaris ATV and Ranger vehicles, which on a Ranger 4x4 EFI, for example, equates to £400 off list price. Members need to register with NFU CallFirst and a voucher will be sent which, when presented with an NFU ID card, will qualify the holder for the discount.
For non-NFU members Polaris and the NFU are giving away free NFU Countryside membership worth £99 with each ATV or Ranger sold.

By unlocking the export potential China offers the pig industry, not to mention the red meat sector as a whole, we could gain entry into a marketplace which comprises a fifth of the world’s population.
