‘One stop shop’ for wind turbines

Derbyshire-based Hallmark Tractors is offering farmers who wish to reduce power bills and cut their carbon footprints by launching its full-package wind turbine service.

As well as offering the British-made Evance Iskra R9000 5kW wind turbine, the company is geared up to handle all aspects of a project, from grant and planning application through to final commissioning. The Iskra R9000 is said to offer a solution to power a poultry or cattle shed, or for perhaps powering a dryer on arable farms. An operational life of 20 years is claimed, with an outlay of around £25,000 required.

Hallmark Tractors are covering the whole of the UK by offering a five-part package, which covers the following aspects.

  1. A wind survey where a minimum of 30 days of data is analysed and seasonally adjusted to give a figure on annual wind speeds and frequency.
  2. Site survey and budget estimates to establish required groundworks and electrical connections.
  3. Planning is then applied for through the correct process, using an experienced rural planning team.
  4. Grants can be applied for via the EU’s Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, and these can cover up to 50 per cent of installation cost.
  5. Final delivery, groundworks and installation are completed, plus commissioning of turbine.

Jim Nash, managing director of Hallmark Tractors, said: “we have a reputation for selling the very best British-manufactured tractors and we are sure our customers will be as pleased with the British Iskra R9000. If you are looking to reduce your power bills and your farm’s carbon footprint then our new service is ideal. We will handle every aspect of the purchase and installation with the same efficiency and expertise that we have built our reputation on for farm machinery.”

The service is to be launched at Lamma 2010.
