Taking the politics out of TB may be a noble cause, but how realistic is it? Ministers, regardless of party, will never relinquish responsibility for the big decision – such as whether and to what extent to cull badgers.

I have caught dogs chasing my sheep in the past but the Leicestershire Police warned me that I was in the wrong for detaining them and at risk of prosecution if I didn't give them back. What we need is support from the Police, with the threat of prosecution hanging over dog owners who offend.. Education only works with the dog owners who put themselves forward to be educated, not those who let their dogs roam unattended. I don't want to be put in the position of having to shoot dogs, it's not their fault, but at the moment, it's the only way to get rid of the problem lawfully.
