Getting blood sugar balance right
DUE to the risk of low blood sugar levels when dairy cows increase their intake of grazed grass, Carrs Billington has added summer compounds and blends to its ‘G Factor’ range.
These have been designed to complement grass throughout the changing grazing season, based on the glucose yielding potential (‘G Factor’) of feed ingredients and what is fed on farm.
The additions include Glucos-Aid, a three-in-one product that starts in May as a 15 per cent protein, high DUP cake with a high proportion of energy from digestible fibre and some bypass starch, moving through to an intermediate 16 per cent protein product, and then in late summer to a high G Factor cake to balance lower digestibility grass and buffer fed silages.
