Soil labs 'fit for purpose' says report
INDEPENDENT investigation of 13 laboratories in the UK offering soil analysis tests has shown farmers can use results for phosphorus, potassium, pH and magnesium with confidence to decide on fertiliser applications.
The Professional Agricultural Analysis Group (PAAG) was created last year to create a proficiency-testing process for routine soil analysis. This found the labs were ‘fit for purpose and closely aligned’.
The 13 labs also hope collecting all their data in one place will allow the publication of annual reports tracking trends in soil analysis data to give an impression of soil nutrient status regionally and nationally.

I’m fed up with talking about the weather, but I can console myself with the fact we have grabbed every opportunity so far and progress is not too bad.
