THE winner of the British Grassland Society’s Scottish silage trophy is dairy farmer John Drummond of Craigie, Ayrshire, a member of the South West Scotland Grassland Society.
One of the judges, Dr Ron Harkess, formerly of SAC, said silage quality was generally down compared to last year but complimented Mr Drummond’s efficient feeding system, clamp management and handling and use of silage effluent and manures.
