Open day will explore farmers’ carbon footprint
AN open day for farmers to explore how to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions will take place in Wiltshire next month.
The event, organised by the Farm Carbon-cutting Toolkit (FCCT) organisation, will take place at Westmill wind farm, near Swindon on Thursday June 10th.
The day will explain why carbon-aware farming is important, how an energy generating project might work on farm and how farmers can go about assessing the risks and accessing the grants.
There will also be presentations from farmers talking about what they have done on their farm - what did and didn’t work – and how they did it.
Wind farming, energy crops, roof and field scale photovoltaics, solar thermal water heating, small and large farm scale anaerobic digestion, micro hydro, precision farming and a range of other technologies will be discussed.
FCCT is a not-for-profit, farmer-to-farmer information sharing organisation.
Tickets for the day cost £25 for farmers and £40 for corporate tickets. Phone 01367 700616 or email adamtwine@phonecoop.coop for tickets.
