Lib Dem agriculture spokesman holds on
LIBERAL Democrat agricultural spokesman Roger Williams has held off a strong challenge from Conservative candidate Suzy Davies to retain his Brecon and Radnor seat in rural Wales.
Mr Williams said: I am very, very pleased to hold Brecon and Radnor for the Liberal Democrats. It has been a tough campaign against a resurgent Conservative party.
The rural constituency was number 96 on the Conservatives constituency hit-list and typified the kind of seat they needed to win to form a majority government.
Mr Williams, an influential member on the influential Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee, said he looked forward to continue to defend British farmers.
He also called for electoral reform. I just hope we are going to get a change in British politics and a change in the voting system, he said.
