Milk Link expands cheese business

MILK Link has bought the Cornish soft cheese maker, Cornish Country Larder, which it already supplies with 8m litres of milk annually.

The acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, gives Milk Link the ability to offer a selection of soft cheeses in addition to the existing range of hard cheeses.

The soft cheese market in the UK totals some 8,000 tonnes – including imported French product. Cornish Country Larder currently produces about one tenth of that volume but Milk Link has expansion plans for the business.

CCL’s award winning Trevarrian creamery, produces a range of Cornish Bries, Camemberts and brands such as Gevrik soft goats cheese and St Endellion (a luxury Cornish Brie hand-made using Cornish double cream). Increased nationwide distribution is one of Milk Link’s plans.
