Welsh Assembly given control or red meat induatry
WELSH Assembly Ministers are now directly accountable for the red meat industry in Wales.
The move comes after the Queen approved the Red Meat Industry (Wales) Measure 2010 at a meeting of the Privy Council.
It will allow Ministers to set out legislation and detail for a framework within which the industry in Wales can be further developed and promoted.
“The measure makes Welsh Ministers directly accountable for the Welsh red meat industry and allows us to take action to improve the efficiency, productivity and marketing aspects of the red meat industry within Wales,” said Assembly Rural Affairs Minister, Elin Jones.
