Australian beef exports up 2.8pc
July beef exports from Australia rose 2.8 per cent this month to 89,623 boneless tonnes, and jumped 8.4 per cent from July 2009, according to monthly figures from the Government’s Department of Agriculture.
Total shipments in the first seven months of this year were 525,718 tonnes, down 3.9 per cent on year, according to the department.
About 65 per cent of Australian beef production is typically destined for overseas consumers, making Australia the second-biggest global exporter, after Brazil.
