Australia projects high lamb returns
LAMB producers can expect another year of high farm returns and prices on the back of lower feed costs, tight domestic and global supplies and strong export and domestic demand
Meat & Livestock Australia’s senior sheepmeat analyst Sylvia Athas said all the signs were pointing to a recovery in breeding ewe numbers during the year.
Flocks reduced
“The flock is expected to fall by only 4 per cent to 70 million head in 2010, underpinned by improved feed and pasture conditions in southern Australia, and favourable returns from lamb production,” she said.
