New fungicide and herbicide approvals

A round-up of recently granted approvals.

Signum

THE protectant and systemic fungicide Signum has gained approval for use in vining and combining peas.

Signum contains 67 g/kg pyraclostrobin and 267 g/kg boscalid and is formulated as a water dispersible granule. It is approved for control of leaf and pod spot in vining and combining peas at a recommended dose rate of 1kg/ha.

It is also approved for winter field beans, spring field beans, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower and carrots.

Retro

A NEW approval for the contact herbicide Retro will enable potato growers to use up to 4.0 l/ha this season – a doubling of the previous highest permitted rate.

The new approval is targeted specifically at black bindweed, cranesbill and other difficult to control weeds. It is only applicable to Retro and is not permitted for any other diquat herbicide.

Cyflamid

THE protectant and curative fungicide Cyflamid (cyflufenamid) has been reinstated for use on oats just in time for the coming season. Cyflamid’s return to the market follows the revision of the Maximum Residue Level set in EC regulation 396/2005.

Recommended application rates are between 0.15 and 0.2 l/ hectare - with the higher rate providing curative action for effective control where mildew has become established.

Two applications are permitted per crop, with the label rate stating a maximum individual dose of 0.5l/hectare.
