FG’s Campaigner of the Year
CHRISTMAS will be far better than present day livestock returns had promised for Clair Powell and her family from Powys – thanks to her efforts on behalf of Fair Trade for British Farmers campaign.
Clair is the well-deserved recipient of the Farmers Guardian Campaigner of the Year award for her work in raising awareness of the campaign among dignitaries and the general public.

FG’s Wales correspondent, Barry Alston, presented the farmer’s wife with a £1,000 cheque and a £250 travel voucher at Brecon’s Theatr Brycheiniog, alongside the terminus basin of the Brecon and Monmouth Canal.
“Because of the low prices farmers have been receiving for their livestock it was looking as though Christmas would be nothing special this year,” said Clair, who with husband, Toby, farms at Gwenddr, between Builth Wells and Brecon.
“The cheque means we will be able to give children, William and Katie, a wonderful Christmas – as well as helping out with some work around the home,” she added.
