Farm workers receive long service awards
TEN agricultural workers, who between them have completed a total of 424 years service in the farming industry in Wales received long service medals at the show.
Longest serving of this year’s recipients is 65 year-old Richard Tinsley, of Hanmer, Whitchurch, Shropshire, who has spent 50 years working for the Edwards family at Little Hall Farm, Bettisfield, near Whitchurch.
Two of the other medallists have each completed 45 years’ service - Dewi Edwards, aged 60, of Bodfari, Denbigh, has worked for two employers at Glan-Clwyd Farm, Bodfari, and Gareth Wynn Roberts, aged 64, has worked for 22 years with the Forestry Commission at Ruthin and 23 years at Coleg Llysfasi, Ruthin.
Derrick George Morgan, 62, of Bronydd, Powys, has worked for 43 years for auctioneers Brightwells, Leominster, and John Price, aged 56, of Penrhyncoch, Aberystwyth, has completed 41 years at the Welsh Plant Breeding Station/IGER/IBERS at Plas Gogerddan, Aberystwyth.
The other five workers who have each been employed in the industry for 40 years are:
Gwynfor Evans, of Rhewl, Ruthin; Alwyn Jones, Abergele, Conwy; Edgar Pryce, Sennybridge, Brecon; Leslie Thomas, of Glantraeth, Bodorgan, Anglesey; and Rona Roberts, also of Glantraeth.
