Drive to grow the industry
FARMERS could be extinct by 2035 if the industry continues to lose workers at its current rate.
The warning has come from training organisation Lantra, which says that, with 15,900 workers leaving the industry each year, Britain could lose its self-sufficiency and its independence and position in the world markets.
In response, the organisation has launched its ‘Skills for Our Nation’ campaign – a drive to raise awareness of critically important job roles in the sector, and the skills required to get the industry growing once again.
