‘On my rounds…’ with Ian Cure, a partner in Lamber, Leonard & May’s new Lancashire practice which is a three vet unit dedicated solely to farm animals, and is based in Broughton, near Preston.
‘Managing my herd…’ - This year’s Dairy Farmer of the Future, Rob Harrison, farms in partnership with his wife Emma at Greystone Farm, just outside Moreton in Marsh, North Gloucestershire, and also rents further land fifteen miles away. The 180-cow herd is run on a spring calving New Zealand grass-based system, with the cows averaging 6300 litres.
‘Mycotoxins…’ - Fluctuating milk yields may be something that most farms come to accept but when a leading herd in Scotland saw cows dropping more than half their production over two days, an investigation was quickly mounted.
‘Calf health…’ - A fatal and unidentified disease that is causing calves to bleed to death is baffling vets across the UK.
