CVT for New Holland

NEW Holland used this week’s Dutch Agrovak machinery show to reveal the prototype of a new CVT option for its US-made compact tractors.

Shown on a Boomer 3000 series model, the new family name for the TC tractors, the Italian-sourced transmission differs to all current CVTs in that it comprises two variable pulleys and a chain variator.

The New Holland Boomer 3045 featuring a prototype of a new chain driven CVT is on display in Holland this week.

Called SuperSpeed, and offering a speed range from 300m/hr to 30kph, the first commercial models of the 40hp 3040, 45hp 3045 and 51hp 3050 are expected sometime early next year.

Interestingly, the transmission is suitable for tractors up to 100hp. New Holland is thought to be considering offering the new CVT option in a T5000 series tractor possibly sometime towards the end of next year.

There are also plans to reveal a new range of 165-251hp CVT tractors at the French SIMA show, next February.

Featuring brand new Stage 3a compliant Common Rail engines, and ultimately set to replace the current 7500 tractors, the newcomers are based on the current 7000 series.

Although the current full powershift PowerCommand continues to be available on the 7030, 7040, 7050, and 7060, from the middle of next year customers will also be able to specify the AutoCommand CVT option.

There is more as the new CVT, an in-house development, is fitted as standard in a new range topping model – the 7070. Rated at 225hp, the new top-end tractor boasts a maximum output of 251hp.

AutoCommand versions also feature a brand new armrest and controls, the concept of which is reported to be similar to that used in the company’s FR self-propelled forage harvesters.

The new tractors are expected to go on sale towards the middle of next year.
