Converted tractor proves popular with bulb growers
THIS must surely rate as one of the most unusual self-propelled sprayers we have ever come across.
The result of marrying a 100hp John Deere 6410 tractor to a Hardi sprayer, the result is a compact and highly-flexible 24m machine fitted with a 2,800-litres tank.

Called the J Trac, the concept is proving popular with bulb growers looking for a lightweight yet high-capacity sprayer.
The conversion is carried out by Coenders, which reckons that reduced fuel consumption is another driving force. The company argues that most hydrostatically-driven self-propelled sprayers need a 150 to 200hp six-cylinder engine.
The four-cylinder version in the John Deere tractor uses a good deal less fuel.
The downside to the conversion is the cost, as the modification alone costs €20,000 to €30,000. When added to the cost of the tractor and sprayer then the total cost varies from €100,000 to €200,000.
Even so, the company says it has sold seven machines, one of which is based on a Fendt tractor (F-Trac).
When added to tractors converted by other engineers, it is suggested that there are around 20 such sprayers operating in the Netherlands.
