Bids to 2,900gns at Bala

TOP price at the Bala dog sale on Saturday was 2,900gns paid for Medwyn Evans two-and-a-half-year-old Moss (ISDS 271884), who after winning the 2005 North Wales Nursery championship, continued to gain experience in both trials and farm work. His new owner is from South Wales.

Out of a record 81 dogs entered with auctioneers Ruthin Farmers, 11 dogs reached 2,000gns and over, with another 10 dogs reaching prices over 1,000gns. With an average of £1,212.31, the sale was the best on record for Bala.

Alan Wyn Jones, Llanllyfni, sold two-and-a-half-year-old Cap (274284) to local farmer Iwan Will-iams, for 2,600gns. Moss has run in nursery trials and is a good all round farm worker. Fifteen-month-old Meg (279632) sold for 2,550gns by Dei Roberts, Bala, She was bought by Ned Evans, Trawsfynydd, for his 2,000-strong flock. Iwan Morris, Corwen, sold 20-month-old Shep, a good working dog, to a local farmer for 2,500gns.

In the young dogs, Dylan Rhys Jones, Betws y Coed, sold 11-month-old Flash (281552) for 750gns. Last to run was Kevin W. Davies’s eight-month-old Jess (283783) which sold for 600gns.
